This year our theme was ‘Supporting our mental health’ and our aim was to raise awareness about the difficulties patient face due to hypoparathyroidism – not just physically but mentally and emotionally too.
For patients, the famous annual Hypopara Day party ran for 24 hours online and attracted patients from 28 countries to the World Hypopara Day Party group! Was asked people to tell us ‘what makes your butterfly soar?’. The group will remain open so you can still add your post and read some of the brilliant responses.
For clinicians, we published our ‘Patient Voice ‘ presentation from the ECE2021 which has been viewed by over a thousand endocrinologists to date. Now you can also see our CEO and medical advisors talk for the first time about the issues which cause patients so much difficulty and what doctors should be doing to help improve matters.Watch the session in our You Tube channel.
We published a moving piece from patient Jo Hill about how unstable calcium levels severely affected her mental health.
We brought news from Bryony Morris about her family’s incredible fundraising challenge which finished on World Hypopara Day raising a fantastic amount to go towards our home calcium tester trial. Read the story of her sister Finn who was diagnosed with hypoparathyroidism last year. The page is still open for donations.
We co – hosted a live event with the Hypoparathyroidism Association and Ascendis Pharma where you can where you can watch a very moving and award winning film by Ariana Feiner and see her read her children’s book too. You will be able to watch the recording of this event very soon!
THANK YOU
Thank you to everyone who took part in World Hypopara Day 2021 and helped us to raise awareness about our rare and challenging condition. Thank you to all the patient groups around the world and to everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes to make this happen. We hope you all had a good day wherever you are and celebrated the positive in our lives.
Until next year….
