We are in awe of the amazing supporters who choose to fundraise for Parathyroid UK. Mostly patients or close family of patients, they push themselves to their limits and what they achieve is quite incredible. If you can support them it will mean so much to us – we need all the help we can get to keep going. Please click the links below to read their stories and donate, if you can. If you can’t why not leave them an inspiring message to boost them on? Thank you!

2023

AUGUST – Robert Schofield is taking on the 10k Tough Mudder on 15th July 2023 in Manchester

”I just want to make people aware of this condition and aware of how much help and support Parathyroid UK give.”

My partner has Hypoparathyroidism and Hypothyroidism. In the past 7 years since we had our son , it’s had a big impact on her quality of life. Her calcium levels are uncontrollable and she has severe symptoms on a daily basis. She has to have repeated blood tests every two week to monitor her levels and to make changes in her long life medication. As you can see this condition is not a pleasant condition to have if unstable so .

Visit Robert’s page to read more and to help him meet his £500 target.

£528 raised!

JULY – Chris Short runs the very popular Cannon Bald Run car events in Scotland.

Hundreds of drivers take part on scenic routes and have a great day out. Here’s the link if you’d like to support them.

£2,024.26 raised!

JUNE – Becky Short, mum of Chris (above) set herself the goal of walking 7,000 steps a day for a year after her retirement, to raise awareness about Chris’s condition, hypoparathyroidism.

On top of that, Calnex, the company Becky used to work for pledged £1,000. Here she is back from a very wet walk – what a star!

£,1060 raised!

MAY – Judith Szarka has primary hyperparathyroidism and hypothyroidism and will be cycling 250 miles here and abroad.

”It all started making sense when I found this website. Things could have been very different had I not joined the group when I did.”
A keen cyclist she decided to continue her events this year, despite her current health challenges, to raise money for Parathyroid UK so that we can help more people. She will attempt to cycle 225km (about 150 miles) through Mallorca’s Tramuntana mountains at the beginning of May then return to the UK, and then a further 100 miles (16 K) in RideLondon Essex at the end of May if her body allows!
Please help Judith to help us. Click the link to view her page and help her meet her £250 target.

£610 raised!

MARCH – Judith Tatton – Schiff has hypoparathyroidism and ran the Derby 10K.

”Mum, wife, student. Living with Hypopara- pretty successfully – thanks, in part, to this wonderful charity.”

This was a big deal for Judith and she was thrilled to get to the finish. On the day she wrote ‘ I’ve done it!  1hr 36mins with no stops or walks. Certainly one of the slowest, but my muscles don’t get the calcium they need, so I think it’s a pretty awesome time tbh! Thank you so much to all who donated and if anyone else wants to the page is open until Monday 3rd April.’

Click here to help Judith meet her target of £250.

£180 raised!
