The first ever patient information leaflet on Hypoparathyroidism was written and produced by Liz Glenister with Dr Mo Aye of our Clinical Advisory Team working in conjunction with the Society for Endocrinology (SfE). Regularly updated, it provides information and advice for patients to help them understand and manage this rare condition.

  • Shire report

‘Living with chronic hypoparathyroidism’ – patient survey report 2017

Read the results of our survey on 230 patients living with hypoparathyroidism. The report sets out for the first time the full extent of the hypopara patient experience in the UK.

Findings describe daily challenges ranging from ‘the impact the condition has on patients’ ability to lead a normal life – to work, drive and socialise – to the frequency with which their condition causes them to make an unplanned stay in hospital, or a trip to A&E.’

Conducted in collaboration with Shire 2017

“The causes of death in 12 patients appeared to be unrelated to HP but we found a high prevalence of chronic organ damages/comorbidities related to it in this group. Less than 25% documented HP correctly in the discharge letters, which indicates a high potential for improvement.” twitter.com/sociedad…
