One-Alpha supply:
There are continuing issues with One Alpha brand of alfacalcidol.
This is a manufacturing-related supply issue (not just pharmacies)
• 1 mcg is out of stock and 0.5 mcg is running low
• 0.25 mcg is still available, but may come under pressure
• Re-supply is expected, but there is no confirmed timeline. This is expected to be a long term issue.
What this means:
• Some people may need to switch strength, brand, or use multiple capsules
• While alternatives are considered equivalent, we recognise not everyone responds the same
What to do now:
• Contact your endo or specialist team proactively
• If switched, ask about monitoring (for example calcium levels)
• If you’re struggling to access supply, your specialist may be able to advise on options
If you find you struggle on generics, it may be worth enquiring about calcitriol or teriparitide, which are in good supply. Your endocrinologist will be able to advise.
We know this is stressful, especially for those stable on One-Alpha. We’re continuing to push for clearer information and will update as soon as we have anything concrete.
