We are delighted to invite you to take part in this excellent survey looking at symptom management in people with hypoparathyroidism. It aims to compare symptoms in people who take calcium supplements and those who don’t. If you are a UK resident, please take 20 minutes to complete it as the results will be very interesting for us.
The survey is by our in-house nutritionist and hypopara patient Tania Gelmetti who writes:
“As part of my MSc Human Nutrition Course I am carrying out a research project to look at symptom management in people with hypoparathyroidism. The research includes a survey which will look at symptom frequency and severity in people who take calcium supplements and compare this to those who only use food sources of calcium.
The survey will also look at how much dietary calcium people with hypoparathyroidism are eating and compare this with their symptoms. With this information, it is hoped that we will gain a better understanding of the amount of dietary calcium needed to control symptoms when supplements aren’t taken.
To the best of my knowledge, this is the first study to look specifically at diet in hypoparathyroidism so I am very excited to see the results and look forward to sharing them with you later on this year.”
