Liz writes: ‘I’m retiring after 20 years as founder and CEO of Parathyroid UK and while its sad to go, I’m also very proud of what we have achieved in that time. I’ve learnt a lot along the way and we’ve made huge progress from the small forum of the early days when hypoparathyroidism was unknown to being internationally recognised with the promise of new treatments today. interest in all parathyroid conditions has increased hugely in the last few years and the understanding of the impact of parathyroid conditions on patients’ lives is gradually increasing. Thank you to everyone who has been on this journey with me as a patient, volunteer, advisor or supporter.I never expected a second career after ending 25 years teaching due to hypoparathyroidism but its been the privilege of my life Its been the privilege of my life and I value your friendships.I am honoured to remain as Founder Patron and continue to support Parathyroid UK.
We’re at a turning point now and so its a great time to bring on new leaders with fresh ideas and a wealth of experience. I’m so proud to hand over our small but very special organisation now and delighted to welcome our new CEOs, Helen Hopkins and Lucy Weigall, who will jointly carry it forward in new and ever hopeful directions. I’ll be very excited to watch future developments unfold. Helen and Lucy are a passionate and hardworking team and I know they will do a brilliant job for us all. I wish them every success.’
