Parathyroid UK Medical Emergency Card

Having a calcium crisis means you need to act fast but it’s not always easy to explain what is happening to you or what you need so, in conjunction with our medical advisors, we have made you an Emergency Card .

It is a plastic card designed to carry on you at all times. Just fill in your personal details on the back.  Available to buy from our shop for £5 plus p&p.

Please note: If you need to keep your corrected calcium below 2.2mmol this card will not be suitable for you. We will be bringing out a card for non- surgical hypopara types soon.

*Not suitable for hyperparathyroidism patients or overseas members

Medic Alert Jewellery

As the most trusted and recognised medical ID service provider in the UK, MedicAlert UK supports individuals with medical conditions, allergies and other requirements.

The charity provides a comprehensive medical record linked to medical ID jewellery, usually a bracelet or a necklace, which carries the members most vital information along with the 24/7 emergency helpline number and the membership number.

Unlike other providers of medical ID services, all MedicAlert member records are checked by in-house medical professionals, both when they are set up and when anything changes, to ensure they are medically sound and prioritised for use in emergency situations.

Member records can include information such as:

  • Medical conditions
  • Allergies
  • Medications
  • Medical history
  • Doctors information & contact details
  • Next-of-kin contact details
  • Organ donation register
  • Scanned documents including implant information or advanced directives

MedicAlert is also unique in allowing members to identify one or more advocates who can help to manage their medical record, this is particularly valuable for younger, older and more vulnerable members.

The emergency helpline is available in over 100 languages and dialects, enabling emergency personnel to access to medical records in an emergency from anywhere in the world.

MedicAlert membership costs just 10p per day (£32 per year) and ensures that first responders are able to treat members quickly and accurately in the case of an emergency.

“The causes of death in 12 patients appeared to be unrelated to HP but we found a high prevalence of chronic organ damages/comorbidities related to it in this group. Less than 25% documented HP correctly in the discharge letters, which indicates a high potential for improvement.” twitter.com/sociedad…
