Welcome hypopara mums and mums to be!
We are very proud to have supported hypopara mums through their journey at Parathyroid UK for many years now. If you are planning a family, are pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant or if you have had your baby and are breastfeeding, we can help.
Find reliable information
We are recognised in the medical world as a trusted source of information, all of which is endorsed by our medical advisors so it’s safe and reliable. We also take back patient experiences to clinicians to inform their practice. We have been campaigning to raise awareness about the care for women with hypopara from the outset. As well as our facebook group and these pages on our website we are working with doctors who are experienced in pregnancy in hypopara to develop a patient information leaflet to cover all aspects of your pregnancy journey. Look our for news on our website or facebook page.
Find instant support
You can find really helpful support and advice on a daily basis from the experienced mums and mums- to- be in our facebook support group at Hypopara@ParathyroidUK. As hypopara is a lifelong condition this group is very special to its members who see themselves as a hypopara family. There is always someone around to offer warm and friendly support, sensible advice or just an understanding ear if you need a rant or a cry. We get it. To protect your privacy we ask that you become a member of Parathyroid UK to join our facebook group.
Read our stories
We publish some of our mums’ pregnancy experiences here on our website so you can read their pregnancy stories here . They are the first stories in the world ever written on this subject and show that having a baby is perfectly possible with hypopara and regular monitoring. If you would like to add your story to our collection please send it in, with a photo.

I hope my experience will inform others and make them more aware. Never be afraid to ask and voice your concerns about being pregnant and having hypoparathyroidism.
